Nigeria records high COVID-19 caseload of 225 with an additional death

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced

225 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, one of the highest in recent time.

In an update via tweet on its verified handle, the government agency, said there are now 60,655 confirmed cases of  infections of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.

It added that a total number of 52,006 people have so far been discharged from hospital, while the death toll had increased by one bringing the total number to 1,116.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 13 COVID-19 update on Twitter put the total number of cases on the continent at 1, 586, 275, while total deaths is said to be 38, 621 and 1, 313, 488 have so far recovered.

Meanwhile, confirmed cases around the world have exceeded 37 million with  more than one million people dead from the virus.

According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 37,534,235 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,077,636 have so far died from the virus. Over 329, 000 new infections were recorded on Monday alone worldwide, with nearly 5000 deaths.
