Excerpt from Chapter 1
I smiled, my pride hanging on my head like a crown. I am a first-class student, I knew what I went to school for, I earned every mark I got. Day in day out, burning candles, soaking my legs into cold water to stay awake, cursing PHCN (popularly called, NEPA, they are responsible for power) for not bringing light. I am as intelligent as my certificate says, and I was not going to allow anyone ridicule me because I bought a cheap suit for an interview. I gave it to the dry cleaner too. Looking expensive shouldn’t be a criterion for a job interview.
