Nigeria’s confirmed COVID-19 cases increase by 163 new infections

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced

163 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

In an update via tweet on its verified handle, the government agency, said there are now 60,266 confirmed cases of people infected with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.

It added that a total number of 51,735 people have so far been discharged from hospital.

The death toll, it stated, is still 1,115.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 11 COVID-19 update on Twitter said that the total number of cases on the continent is 1, 578,299, while total deaths is 37, 960 and over one million have so far recovered.

Meanwhile, over 37 million confirmed cases have been reported in 188 countries and more than one million people have died from the virus.

According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 37,204,941 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,073,940 have died from the virus.
