Nigeria’s confirmed COVID-19 cases surpass 60k with 111 new infections, 2 more deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 111 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

In an update via tweet on its verified handle, the government agency, said there are now 60,103 confirmed cases of people infected with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.

It added that a total number of 51,711 people have so far been discharged from hospital.

The death toll, it stated, had risen by an additional two deaths bringing the total to 1,115.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in its October 8 COVID-19 update on Twitter said that the total number of cases on the continent is 1, 537, 669, while total deaths is 37, 392 and 1, 274, 011 have so far recovered.

Meanwhile, over 36 million confirmed cases have been reported in 188 countries and more than one million people have died from the virus.

According to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University, 36,843,095 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,068,420 have died from the virus.
