Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases jump by 627 to 15,181

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Friday confirmed a total number of 627 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases in the country via its Twitter handle.

This brings the total for Nigeria to 15,181 with 4,891 people so far discharged and 399 deaths recorded

According to NCDC’s tweet, Nigeria’s centre of commerce, Lagos State again recorded the highest number of 229 new infections, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  which had 65 new cases. More than half of the remaining 22 states listed recorded double digits.

Worldwide, the number of those infected continues to rise and has reportedly far exceeded seven million with close to 500,000 deaths recorded. There is concern the world over particularly about a second wave of infection now that lockdown has been eased in many places around the world.
