Nigeria’s COVID-19 infections now 52,800 as NCDC confirms 252 new cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed a total number of 252 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases in the country.

The NCSC made the announcement Tuesday night via tweet.

It said the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 52,800 with 39,964 patients discharged and 1007 deaths recorded.

Africa has more than 1.1 million cases and more than 27,000 deaths, according to the World Health Organization’s Africa Region.

As of August 25, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 27,984. There are 1,195,297 confirmed infections and 921,783 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Worldwide, the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 has exceeded 23 million. According to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University, the global total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now more than 23.7 million. More than 814,000 people have died, while 15.3 million have recovered.
