Nigeria’s COVID-19 toll rises to 42,689 after another 481 are infected

Nigeria’s confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infections have risen to 42,689.

This is as a result of an additional 481 cases, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC, which made the announcement via its twitter handle Thursday night, also announced 878 as the total number of deaths from the virus in the country, while it put the number of recoveries at 19,270.

As of July 30, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 18,884. There are 891,199 confirmed infections and 540,872 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Over 17.2 million people around the world have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus. More than 10 million patients have recovered, and at least 671,000 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University
