Nigeria’s Ntia-Obong wins 60m, 200m races in Kansas

Mercy Ntia-Obong emerged winner in the 60m and 200m races at the All-Kansas Invite, where she represented her school, Cloud County Community College, on Saturday.

The Nigerian took part in three of her school’s five victories at the event, and set one of the two national qualifying marks.

Ntia-Obong ran a time of 7.74secs, a national qualifying time in the 60m preliminary stages, ahead of her teammate, Isila Apkup (7.80secs) and Fort Hays’ Holman Lyric (7.81secs).

She replicated her impressive form in the 200m, finishing with a time of 24.14secs, ahead of Apkup, who came second in 25.07secs, while Sinegal Trinity from Fort Scott County placed third in 25.12secs.Ntia-Obong also helped set a new school record in the 4x400m relays with Leonie Beu, Isila Apkup, and Pamela Milano (3:50.61secs).
