The new grim total is now 5, 621 according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which tweeted the announcement.

The new infections are from 13 states and the FCT with Lagos polling the highest number of 95 new infections. Oyo got 31, FCT 11, while Borno and Niger have eight each. For Jigawa it is six, Kaduna four, Anambra three, while Edo, Rivers, Nasarawa and Bauchi all have two each. Benue and Zamfara complete the list with one case each.

The NCDC said that 1,472 patients have been discharged across the country and 176 have died.

Also, while commending the efforts of states taking proactive measures to prevent the #COVID19 spread in Nigeria, especially through #MaskUp campaigns, the NCDC urged people in places authorised to be open to operate under controlled access and adhere to preventive measures such as physical distancing.
