Filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan has released the teaser for his new film, Malika: Warrior Queen. Released on his twitter handle @niyiakinmolayan, it is an animation feature and has since set all of the internet jousting to get a glimpse of the spectacle.
“I present to you the long awaited trailer for Malika: Warrior Queen,” Akinmolayan writes. He goes on to explain that the film was a result of a lot of time and dedication. “It’s been one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever attempted as a studio. Hope you love it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
The film, an adaptation of a book of the same title, tells the story of Malika, who inherited the crown from her father in the most unusual of circumstances, splitting the kingdom of Azzaz in half. After years of civil war, Malika is able to unite all of Azzaz, expanding it into one of the largest empires in all of West Africa. However, enemies begin to rise within her council. As Malika fights to win the clandestine war within the walls of her empire, she must now turn her attentions to an indomitable and treacherous foe with plans to vanquish her entire people.
Malika stars Adesua Etomi who voices Malika, Femi Branch, voicing Chief Dogbari, Deyemi Okanlowon, the WindMaker and King Bass, Blossom Chukwujekwu as Abdul and Sambassa Nzeribe, voicing General Ras.
Niyi Akinmolayan, who has directed such films as, The Set Up, Chief Daddy, The Wedding Party 2, The Arbitration, Out of Luck, and Falling, is a film blogger, founder and creative director of Anthill studios.
