Fayose is being persecuted, says Fani-Kayode (Nation)

A former Minister of Aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on Monday accused the Federal Government of persecuting immediate past Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose. Fani-Kayode was at the Federal High Court in Lagos in solidarity with Fayose during his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering. Two children die after migrant boat sinks (Nation)

Two children died after a boat carrying migrants sank just 50 meters off Turkey’s western coast near Bodrum on Monday, the coastguard said. Seventeen people on the boat were rescued from the sea and seventeen others were found on the shore, the coastguard said. Priest commits suicide after abuse claims (Punch)

A priest in central France accused of sexually assaulting a minor committed suicide in his church, Catholic authorities said Monday, the second French priest to take his life over abuse claims in a month. Ex-banker faces prosecution over alleged N8.7m fraud (Punch)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday charged a former banker, Ali Kareem, with impersonation and N8.7m fraud before a Federal High Court Lagos. The accused appeared before Justice Chuka Obiozor on three counts of conspiracy, impersonation and fraud. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Man bags six-month jail over illicit drugs (Nation)

A Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced one Lawal Mohammed, 25, to six months imprisonment over alleged possession of illicit drugs. Counsel from the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), Mr Charles Nwagua, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 10 at Dadinkowa village along ABUAD Road, Ado-Ekiti. He alleged that the defendant, on the said date, without lawful authority possessed 500 grammes of Cannabis Sativa,a Narcotic drugs similar to cocaine Heroin and LSD. Read more

I trailed my victim for three days, armed robbery suspect allegedly confesses (Punch)

An armed robbery suspect, Ishaku Samuel, has confessed that he trailed the car he wanted to snatch for three days before he eventually got it from the owner. Samuel, 32, who was paraded by the Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps on Monday in Jos, said that it took him “a lot of efforts” before he succeeded in the armed robbery act.
