NYSC suspends 2018 Batch C orientation exercise in Kaduna

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended till further notice the commencement of the orientation course earlier scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, 2018 for all 2018 Batch C prospective corps members deployed to Kaduna State.

The suspension, said a statement from the organisation is “due to the current security situation and consequent curfew imposed by the state government”.

The NYSC Management, which said it regrets all inconveniences the suspension will cause those concerned, further stated that all affected prospective corps members are advised to remain at home until further notice.

“However, all other prospective corps members deployed to other states and FCT are to report at the various orientation camps on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 as scheduled”.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki and other Nigerians have reacted to the recent violence in Kaduna State.

Crisis in many parts of the state on Sunday led to the imposition of a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna metropolis and its environs.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, made the announcement on his official Twitter page, where he said the decision was taken in the interest of the state.

“This is a notice of a 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna town and environs, with immediate effect. Residents are advised to comply by this directive. The decision has been taken in the best interest of the state,” Mr. El-Rufai said.

Sunday’s incident is believed to be a fall out of the violence in another part of the state on Friday, which caused the death of 55 to people reportedly killed in the Kasuwar Magani violence on Friday.
