Oba Akiolu to FG: Give priority to oil producing areas (Independent)

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu 1, has advised the Federal Government to add more value to the oil producing areas, where the hugest revenue of the nation   is generated.

He spoke when the President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Francis Olabode Johnson, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Lagos for attending the Association’s 40th Anniversary celebrations in Abuja recent.

He added: “We cannot continue to rob Peter to pay Paul. The government should take care of the areas where the oil is coming from. They should add value to the environment and the people in the area,” he said.

Blaming the accumulation of wealth by some Nigerians on greed, Oba Akiolu advised the government to focus on welfare programmes that will improve the lives of Nigerians, especially the workers. Read more
