OHSOSA urges state ministry of education to monitor activities in boarding schools

To check cultism and bullying among students in Lagos State schools and other parts of the country, the state Ministry of Education has been called upon to monitor activities in schools, especially the boarding schools.

President, Oke-Odo High School, Ebute Metta, Lagos, Old Students’ Association (OHSOSA), Hope Uwagboe, gave the charge at the weekend during the 2021 End of the Year Party and 40th Anniversary of the school.

Uwagboe, who urged the need to strengthen the area said, “I expect the government to move into these schools without notifying them and check what is happening there

.“They should check the facilities, infrastructure and then, have one-on-one chat with the students in confidence. Perhaps, that will be an opportunity for them to voice out whether they are being intimidated or whatever challenges they may be facing in the school. Government should strengthen that aspect. The Ministry of Education should monitor the activities of these secondary schools, especially those with boarding facilities.” (Independent)
