Okowa’s appointees in Aniocha North pay WAEC fees for 100 indigent students

At least 100 more indigent students have benefited from the ongoing Delta State Political Appointees in Aniocha North (SPAAN) project on payment of  West African Examination Council (WAEC) enrollment fees.

Chairman of the WAEC enrollment Committee of the group, Mr Okolie Peter, in company of other members of the committee, Mr Francis Osedume and Gods’ Glory Ofor, on Monday, visited schools in Issele-Azagba, Issele-uku, Issele-Mkpitime, Onicha-Olona and Ezi to meet with their grantees.

During the presentation of the enrollment fees, Mr Okolie explained that all Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s appointees in Aniocha North are passionate about assisting the less privileged in their various  communities.

He observed that beneficiaries were not selected based on academic performance but on the economic background of the parents.

A beneficiary at Great Favour Montessori School, Issele-Azagba, Okocha Benedicta thanked Governor Okowa as well as the appointees for embarking on the project.

In her remarks, the Principal of Okalete Comprehensive Secondary School, Mrs. Okonkwo Magdalene, noted that  financial constraint is a major  factor that hampers the educational background of many students in rural Schools just as she lauded the  appointees for pulling resources together for  the benefit of the indigent students in the area.

On his part, Hon. Richard Anonye, a youth leader in the local Government, said that   the political appointees project  is first of its kind in the local government area.

Grantees were selected from Great Favour Montessori School, Issele- Azagba, Okalete Comprehensive Secondary School, Issele-Mkpitime, Government Model Secondary School  Onicha-Olona, and  Olona mixed Secondary School, Onicha-Olona,

Students from  Ezi Secondary Comprehensive School, Ezi, Ugbodu Secondary School, Ugbodu and Solid Foundation Comprehensive Schools, Issele-uku also benefited.

Delta State Commissioner for Youth Develop, Hon. Ifeanyi Egwuyenga is the coordinator of the State Appointees in Aniocha North. The exercise continues till  all  chosen grantees benefit from the Scheme.
