Oscar Pistorius to be ‘secretly freed to attend grandad’s funeral’ (Metro)

Killer Oscar Pistorius will reportedly be allowed leave from prison on compassionate grounds so he can attend a memorial service for his grandad.

The former Paralympian is currently serving a 15-year sentence for the murder of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

But family sources are reported to have told local media that Oscar will be freed so he can be present at the funeral of Hendrik Pistorius, who died last month after a routine operation in hospital.

Pistorius was said to be devastated by his grandad’s death and has applied to the Department of Correctional Services in Pretoria, South Africa, to attend his memorial.

The former athlete has previously been given leave to attend the memorial service of Hendrik’s wife, Gerti, who died aged 92 in August 2016. Read more
