Ships sail from Ukraine despite Russia suspending grain deal (ABC)
Ships loaded with grain departed Ukraine on Tuesday despite Russia suspending its participation in a U.N.-brokered deal that ensures safe wartime passage of critical food supplies meant for parts of the world struggling with hunger.
The U.N. said three ships carrying 84,490 metric tons of corn, wheat and sunflower meal left through a humanitarian sea corridor set up in July. The corridor, brokered by Turkey and U.N., was seen as a breakthrough that would ensure Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia would receive grain and other food from the Black Sea region during Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Russia cited allegations of a Ukrainian drone attack against its Black Sea fleet in announcing over the weekend that it was suspending its part of the grain deal. The Russian Defense Ministry said Monday that ship traffic from ports in southern Ukraine was halted, calling the movement “unacceptable.”
But a total of 14 ships sailed that day, including one chartered by the U.N. World Food Program to bring wheat to Ethiopia, which along with neighboring Somalia and Kenya, is badly affected by the worst drought in decades. Read more

Emma Raducanu told how to use Novak Djokovic to improve after ending season injured (Express)
Emma Raducanu has been told to look to the likes of Novak Djokovic to improve ahead of next season after ending her first full year on the pro tour with a 17-19 win-loss record. It comes after a wrist injury cut her 2022 season short, forcing her out of her last two tournaments in Transylvania and the Billie Jean King Cup.
Raducanu has been offered some advice ahead of her sophomore season after a rollercoaster 2022 that saw the Brit fall from a career-high of world No 10 to outside of the world’s top 70, while injuries also derailed her progress. The 19-year-old experienced an unprecedented rise when she won the 2021 US Open as a qualifier, skyrocketing from No 150 in the world into the top 25.
As a result, she was able to enter the biggest tournaments this year but struggled to catch up to her sudden status as a top player, still developing her game while entering tournaments as the woman to beat. With her first full year on the WTA Tour now over, Mats Wilander has urged the teenager to look to the likes of Djokovic and Simona Halep to learn how to win.
“For Emma Raducanu I think that you have to look obviously at other players,” the retired former world No 1 told Eurosport. “She might have to look at someone like Simona Halep in terms of the style, and the style of Simona Halep when she was at her best was to not make mistakes.”
Spurs assistant fills in for Antonio Conte, says preparation for Marseille clash ‘totally different’ (Football 365)
Spurs assistant Cristian Stellini says Antonio Conte’s touchline ban for Tuesday’s Champions League decider against Marseille has hugely altered preparations for the game.
Head coach Conte is confined to the stands at the Stade Velodrome after his red card against Sporting Lisbon last week in the wake of the VAR’s decision to controversially rule out what would have been a last-gasp winner from Harry Kane.
The Italian will sit next to his brother Gianluca and relay messages to the bench during the game, but is not allowed in the dressing room and cannot speak to his players until 15 minutes after full-time.
That means he cannot have direct influence on proceedings in a game that Spurs cannot afford to lose if they are to qualify for the knockout stages. Read more
