Otedola, chairman of Forte Oil, made this known via his Instagram handle where he posted a photograph of himself and the governorship candidate. Driver, motor boy trapped as truck falls in Lagos (Guardian)
A truck driver and his motor boy were temporarily trapped under a container-bearing when truck in which they were travelling fell at the Toyota end of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway inward Mile 2 on Sunday. Although men of the Nigerian police arrived early at the scene of the accident, they were unable to rescue the trapped driver and the motor boy until the arrival of the men of the Lasema Response Unit. They were first attended to at the scene by the medics before being taken to an undisclosed hospital. Read more
Fire destroys 77 shops in Kano market (Punch)
The Kano State Fire Service said fire has destroyed 77 temporary shops at Kasuwar Kurmi (‘Yan Gumama) Market in Kano State. The Spokesman of the State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed told News Agency of Nigeria in Kano State on Sunday that 70 of the shops were razed down completely. “We received a distress call early hours of (Sunday morning) at 07:35 a.m from one Aliyu Ibrahim that there was fire outbreak at the market. After evacuating the catastrophic Camp fire in Northern California, at least 145 people in four shelters have been sickened with norovirus, a gastrointestinal illness that causes intense diarrhea and vomiting, officials said. At least 25 people who were sickened with the virus have received treatment at hospitals. The outbreak has also included staff members at the shelters. Read more

Multiple sources tell CNN that a much-anticipated United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities in Yemen and for Saudi Arabia to allow humanitarian aid to reach millions of starving people was “stalled” this week after the resolution’s sponsor, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, met face-to-face with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Two sources said the crown prince “threw a fit” about the resolution. Two other sources with knowledge of the discussion didn’t go so far as to describe the crown prince as angry, though they didn’t deny he was annoyed. Read more
