Pastor Jerry Eze, the founder of Streams of Joy International and convener of the popular New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) online prayer platform, has been recognised as Nigeria’s highest YouTube earner, according to a report by Playboard, a data curation platform that ranks YouTube channels globally.
With over 2.12 million subscribers and more than one million daily views, Pastor Eze’s channel has become a major source of income through YouTube’s “Super Chat” feature.
This feature allows viewers to pay to have their messages highlighted during live streams, with Pastor Eze receiving 70% of the revenue generated. Read more

Several persons have sustained injuries in a multiple auto accident on Kara Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to an eyewitness, the accident happened at about 6.45 pm, outward Lagos. It involved a Lexus SUV, two trucks, and two commercial buses.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has disrupted an event tagged, “Unveiling the Power of Women and Food Security,” which was held without the ministry’s approval.

Lagos moves to boost youth enrolment in military (Nation)
Lagos State Government has admonished indigenous youths to join the military, saying it is not a death sentence.
Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations Olugbenga Oyerinde spoke at a seminar on the enrolment of Lagos indigenous youths into the Nigerian Armed Forces, and enlightenment on prohibition of trafficking in persons.
With the theme: ‘Ignite: Sparkling Passion and Purpose’, the seminar was to motivate youths and equip them with the energy needed to overcome life’s challenges. Read more

Corruption remains one of the most significant impediments to Nigeria’s development, as it erodes trust in public institutions, undermines the rule of law, and stifles economic growth.
The Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, declared in Zaria on Thursday that an estimated 87 million bribes amounting to N700 billion were paid and that the frequency of bribes is higher in rural areas than in urban areas.

“It’s part of our homeland. We intend to stay there,” Netanyahu said of the occupied Palestinian land in an interview with TIME Magazine, published on Thursday.

A woman was found dead at Chicago O’Hare International Airport early Thursday morning after reports of a person trapped in machinery, officials said.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m., the woman was discovered “unresponsive and was pronounced on scene” in the 0-100 block of West Terminal Street, police said in a short statement.

Turkey on Wednesday filed a request with a UN court to join South Africa’s lawsuit accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, the foreign minister said.
Turkey’s ambassador to the Netherlands, accompanied by a group of Turkish legislators, submitted a declaration of intervention to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
In seeking to participate in the case, Turkey, which has been one of the fiercest critics of Israel throughout its war against Hamas in Gaza, joined Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua and the Palestinians. The applications have yet to be granted, but if they are, the countries would be able to make written submissions and speak at public hearings. Read more

Team Nigeria’s cyclist, Ese Ukpeseraye, borrowed a bicycle from a German opponent to compete for Nigeria at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, on Thursday.
Ukpeseraye, who was given a short notice about her participation in the Keirin and Sprint repechage, saw a display of sportsmanship from German opponent, Bund Deutscher Radfahrer, who stepped in to assist the Nigerian cyclist with a bicycle to race on the tracks.

Team USA’s Noah Lyles contracted COVID-19 at the Summer Olympics, managed to win bronze in the 200-meter final and is considering not running in the upcoming 4×100-meter relay, he said Thursday.
Lyles made the comments during the NBC broadcast from Saint-Denis, France, after he finished third in the 200-meter final, missing out on a chance to complete a rare sprint double.
Lyles completed the first half of the double by winning the 100-meter final Sunday in Saint-Denis. He celebrated very enthusiastically after that finish. Read more

Ex-FIFA interim president, Africa soccer leader Issa Hayatou dies at 77 (ESPN)
Issa Hayatou, the long-time leader of African soccer who was made interim president of FIFA during its corruption crisis in 2015, died on Thursday. He was aged 77.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in an Instagram post: “Saddened to hear of the passing of former CAF president, former FIFA president and interim FIFA vice-president and FIFA Council member Issa Hayatou. A passionate sports fan, he dedicated his life to sports administration. On behalf of FIFA, condolences go to his family, friends, former colleagues and all who knew him. Rest in peace.”
Hayatou also was a member of the International Olympic Committee for 15 years, through 2016, and remained an honorary member. Read more

Letsile Tebogo became the first African to win the men’s Olympic 200 metres title on Thursday when he powered clear of American duo Kenny Bednarek and a COVID-hit Noah Lyles to claim Botswana’s first Olympic gold medal.
Tebogo, who set a national record of 9.86 when finishing sixth in the 100m final, produced a dominant last 50 metres and crossed the line in 19.46 seconds, beating his chest as he become the fifth-fastest man in history over 200m.
