Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been the victim of a violent robbery, according to Spanish outlet El Pais.
Per the Daily Mail, at roughly 1am on Monday morning, at least four intruders climbed into the back garden of Aubameyang’s home in Castelldefels.
The robbers threatened him with firearms and iron bars, and beat him, according to police sources.
They continued to intimidate both Aubameyang and his wife while attempting to open a safe.
The robbers successfully opened the safe and took several jewels before departing. They are said to have fled in a white Audi A3.
Aubameyang’s wife, Alysha Behague, notified the police of what had happened.
The two have two kids: Curtys, 11, and Pierre, six. It is unknown whether they were at home at the time of the robbery.
Awful news. Our best wishes go to Aubameyang and his family who are safe following the scary attack.
The attack came just hours after Barcelona’s La Liga clash against Valladolid at Camp Nou.
Aubameyang was an unused substitute as Barca won 4-0. Robert Lewandowski (2), Pedri and Sergi Roberto were all on target for the Catalan giants.
The Gabonese striker may not be a Barca player much longer. He has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent times.
A move will see him reunited with Thomas Tuchel, who managed Aubameyang during their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
Lewandowski has also been the victim of a robbery during his short spell at Barcelona.
Earlier this month, the Pole had his £59,000 watch stolen as he greeted fans ahead of an evening training session with Barca.
The thief opened Lewandowski’s car door as he signed autographs. The 33-year-old then attempted to chase down the thief himself.
Fortunately, police were able to recover the watch and return it to Lewandowski.(GMS)
