Pistis Foundation marks 5th anniversary with free medical outreach

Pistis Foundation, a renowned non-profit organisation dedicated to societal advancement through empowerment, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with an ambitious undertaking. The organisation’s annual Ubomi Free Medical and Surgical Outreach, aimed at impacting 5,000 economically challenged individuals in Nigeria, will take place from October 23rd to 27th, 2023.

Established in 2018, Pistis Foundation has been a beacon of hope, focusing on critical areas of health, education, and shelter. The Ubomi initiative provides primary medical and surgical care to individuals facing dire circumstances, and it has already made a substantial impact. In the first three editions, the foundation provided 13,020 medical interventions, including more than 500 transformative eye, dental, and general surgeries, all offered free of charge to beneficiaries.

Founder and Board Chair of Pistis Foundation, Godman Akinlabi, unveiled this year’s Ubomi initiative during a press conference. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to extending assistance to communities and the underprivileged, stating that “recognizing that robust health is instrumental in fostering meaningful societal change, our objective is to contribute to the betterment of national well-being.”

Leonard F. Thomas, the Executive Director of the Pistis Foundation, reflected on the Foundation’s significant milestones over the years. He highlighted their commitment to making a positive impact, saying, “In the past four years, we have effectively conducted over 13,000 health interventions, encompassing a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including eye care, dental surgeries, fibroid surgeries, and various other medical treatments. In addition, we cultivate enduring relationships with the beneficiaries of our outreach initiatives, aiding their transition from a state of vulnerability to one of self-sufficiency.”

Pistis Foundation’s dedication to transforming lives extends beyond medical outreach. Since 2018, the organization has adopted over 100 underserved children into its education program, committing to support them from primary school to the completion of their university studies.

To ensure the sustainability of all its programs, the Foundation has formed partnerships with various organizations. For the Ubomi Outreach, Pro-Health International (PHI) serves as the technical partner, while the Elevation Church is the principal partner. Additional partners, including Gateway Church, Hospital for Trauma and Surgeries, The Dover Hotel Lagos, State Blood Transfusion Service, MedPlus Pharmacy, Exclusive Uniforms & Corporate Designs, Nedcomoaks, Goldielux Catering, Pennek Group, Zenith Bank, and Zenera Consulting, contribute to the impactful work being done.

Dr. Femi Owagbemi, a representative of Pro-Health International, emphasized their commitment to maintaining follow-up procedures that ensure the well-being of the beneficiaries of the medical intervention. He expressed gratitude for collaborating with the Pistis Foundation on this noble endeavor for the past three years.
