Police arraign teenager for allegedly stealing cable worth N8m

The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned an 18-year-old man, Nura Sulaiman, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing cable valued at N8 million.

Suleiman is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and malicious damage, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Ikem Uko, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 7 at Alfa Oladokun Str., Morogbo area of Lagos.

Uko said that the defendant entered the premises of Henry Karnny Hotel and stole cable, valued at N8 million, property of Henry Karnny Company.

“The defendant maliciously damaged the cable, valued at N8, 000, 000 after which they were arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution,” he told the court.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.

Adekomaiya adjourned the case till Sept. 25 for mention. (NAN)
