Police arrest 2 fake soldiers in Lagos

The Police Command in Lagos State says two men, Jonathan Yahaya and Mohammed Umar, were handed over to them by the Nigerian Army, for allegedly falsely parading themselves as soldiers.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

Hundeyin said that a Major, whose name was not mentioned, attached to the 81 Division, Nigerian Army Provost, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos brought the two suspects to Onikan Police Division after their arrest.

He said the army arrested one of the suspects while wearing camouflage trousers and black combat boots, while the second was wearing Nigerian Army uniform.

“On interrogation, it was discovered that both suspects were fake soldiers. They could not tell how they got the army uniforms, hence their arrest.

“The suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.” Hundeyin said. (NAN)
