Police arrest 2 suspected vandals in Lagos, recover tools (Radio Nigeria)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the vandalism of public infrastructure at the Ile-Zik area of the state.
Acting on credible information from residents, operatives from the Isokoko Division apprehended the suspects—Peter James, 26, and Lesipi Adamu, 24—on April 22, 2025, while they were allegedly removing iron rods embedded in roadside concrete barriers.
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that officers recovered several tools believed to have been used in the act, including two sledgehammers, two cutting saws, and a pair of scissors. He also noted that a manhunt is ongoing for other individuals who managed to flee the scene during the arrest. (Read more)
Lagos Taskforce arrests 74 suspects in Clean Up around Lekki (TVC)
The Lagos State Government has continued its efforts to eliminate environmental infractions and criminal activity while enhancing public safety.
As part of this, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has conducted another major raid and clean-up operation around the Lekki axis.
The operation, which commenced at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 6th May 2025, was led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, and covered key areas including Lekki Phase 1 and 2, Ikoyi, Falomo Bridge, Law School, Eko Hotel axis, and Oniru Beach. These locations had been the subject of numerous complaints and distress calls from residents concerning the activities of street urchins, miscreants, hooligans, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals—particularly during the early hours of the day. ‘Lunatic’ arrested with 27 SIM cards in Lagos (Punch)
Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps have arrested one Godwin, allegedly disguised as mentally unstable, in possession of 27 SIM cards.
The agency, in a statement seen by PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, stated that the suspect, who identified himself as a native of Ughelli Local Government Area in Delta State, had been under surveillance for over a month.
This arrest followed the receipt of reports from some residents of the Epe area of Lagos about the suspicious behaviour of Godwin. (Read more)
Police officer accused of extorting N13m from woman, inhumane treatment (Guardian)
A Police officer attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, Lagos, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Alabi, has been accused of professional misconduct by a businesswoman, Mrs Nnoma Ugochukwu Nze. She alleged that Alabi tortured her, subjected her to inhumane treatment, and compelled her to transfer N13 million to him and his accomplices.
In two separate petitions addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and dated October 21, 2024, and January 6, 2025, Nze, through her lawyer, Goddy Ezimoha & Co, detailed the alleged misconduct.
She accused Alabi of orchestrating her prolonged detention to forcefully gain access to her bank accounts, transferring funds to third parties under the guise of recovering an alleged debt. (Read more)
Lagos Police nab suspected murderer with stolen vehicle in Kogi (Leadership)
Detectives from the Homicide Section of Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Abubakar Iliyasu for the alleged murder of 65-year-old Mrs. Jane Okoye occurred on April 2, 2025, in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos State.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the suspect who fled Lagos after the incident was apprehended in Kogi State.
According to him, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had forcibly gained access to the victim’s premises and fled with her Toyota Sienna vehicle. The victim was found unconscious and taken to a medical facility where she later passed on.” (Read more)
Woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend to death in Lagos (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 21-year-old Precious Anegbode for allegedly stabbing to death one Damilola, said to be her boyfriend, in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the suspect, last Friday, visited the home of the deceased where a fierce argument ensued.
The argument was said to have degenerated into an altercation.
A resident who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday, on the condition of anonymity, said neighbours heard a sustained noisy argument between the two after which Anegbode reached for a knife and stabbed Damilola in the process. (Read more)
