His comments were put back under the spotlight in the Atlanta episode ‘New Jazz’, where Alfred Miles, aka Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), has a sequence of hallucinatory encounters after consuming “Nepalese space cakes” in Amsterdam.

Roma’s ‘sense of family’ key to reaching Europa Conference League final – Jose Mourinho (ESPN)

Jose Mourinho said a “sense of family” between his AS Roma club and their supporters was the biggest reason they reached the final of the Europa Conference League.

The outspoken Portuguese coach told Roma supporters ahead of their 1-0 semifinal, second leg win over Leicester City that they shouldn’t come to the stadium just “to watch” the game, but rather “to play” it.

The fans did their job, creating a suffocating atmosphere for 90 minutes and Mourinho did this by helping his Roma side complete a 2-1 aggregate victory against their Premier League opposition.

“It’s a victory for a family,” Mourinho said, “Not just the one that was on the pitch and on the bench, but also inside the stadium. That is our greatest achievement, this empathy and sense of family we have created with the fans.” Read more

Moyes sorry for kicking ball at ball boy during West Ham’s Europa League exit (Guardian)

David Moyes apologised for losing his cool after West Ham’s manager was sent off for lashing out at a ballboy as his side’s hopes of reaching the Europa League final were ended by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Moyes, who was disappointed after West Ham fell to a 3-1 defeat on aggregate, admitted that he had no defence after he lost his cool with a time-wasting local goal. “I kicked a ball back at the ball boy so I apologise for that,” the Scot said. “He threw it very softly at me.”

West Ham were up against it after losing Aaron Cresswell to a foolish red card after 19 minutes. Cresswell was dismissed for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when he fouled Jens Petter Hauge and Frankfurt, who will face Rangers in the final in Seville, made the most of their numerical advantage when Rafael Borré scored the only goal of the game.

Moyes, who criticised Frankfurt’s coaching staff for appealing for Cresswell to be sent off, was proud of his side’s efforts with 10 men. “Things didn’t go for us that night,” he said. “I’m really proud of the players. How they played with 10 men was fantastic. Other teams would have folded. But the boys here are great. Tough boys. Read more

A frustrated Sergio Garcia says he ‘can’t wait to leave this tour’ (StraitsTimes)

Spain’s Sergio Garcia, the 2017 Masters champion, blurted out angry comments on Thursday (May 5) at the Wells Fargo Championship that indicated he could be planning to join the upstart LIV golf series.

His comments came as he was searching for a lost ball following his tee shot at the par-five 10th hole on his way to an opening three-under 67 at TPC Potomac in suburban Washington.

Garcia pulled his tee shot into tall grass left of the fairway and found his ball after a lengthy search, but was told by a US PGA Tour official that he had taken 90 seconds beyond the three-minute limit that rules allow to search for a missing ball.

After arguing that he had not started looking for the ball until he reached a certain area where he knew it landed, well after the official had started the clock, Garcia’s frustration boiled over. Read more
