Lagos police nab man for stealing employer’s car (Punch)
A yet-to-be-identified man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a Toyota Hilux car from his employer in Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect allegedly stole the car with the intention to travel to Ghana with his family.
It was also learnt that the incident occurred on January 16 at about 1:00 pm.
A police source told our correspondent that “a group of detectives moved quickly after receiving the information and during the inquiry, the car was found in Ilukogun village, which borders Ogun State and Lagos.” Read more
Man remanded for allegedly defiling 12-year-old girl (Punch)
Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a man, Nasiru Uthman, at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
The Judge ordered the remand of the defendant after he was arraigned on two counts of defilement and unlawful indecent act towards a minor, preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
The state prosecution counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences sometime in January 2022. She said the incident occurred at about 6 pm, in the Lekki area of the state. Read more
Father bags life jail for sexually assaulting his children (Punch)
Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Monday, sentenced a father, Ademola Oladimeji, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his three children.
The children were aged five, seven, and nine.
While delivering judgment, the judge held that the evidence of the prosecution witnesses were believable and truthful. Read more
Lagos police arrest mechanic for stealing customer’s car (Punch)
A 54-year-old mechanic, Abisodun Ilori, has been arrested for car theft in the Isheri-Oshun area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Online learnt that Ilori’s arrest followed the complaints by a resident in the area about his missing Nissan Xterra.
It was gathered that the owner of the vehicle had gone to church on Sunday when Ilori visited his house, collected the keys to the vehicle from his daughter and drove it away to an unknown destination. Read more
Lagos police arrest 2 notorious traffic robbers (Punch)
Two notorious traffic robbers have been arrested in the Orile-Iganmu areas of Lagos State.
PUNCH Online learnt that the arrest was made after a tip-off by members of the public.
A police source told our correspondent that information was received from a member of the public around 11 pm that some hoodlums numbering about eight were seen at a pallet area, close to Orile Iganmu under the bridge. Read more

Octogenarian arraigned for giving false information about lawyers (Punch)
The police on Thursday arraigned an octogenarian, Akinola Oloruntoba, and one other before the Lagos State High Court in Tafawa Balewa Square for allegedly giving false information against two lawyers and three others.
Oloruntoba was arraigned alongside one Jimoh Makinde, on six counts of conspiracy and making of false information against two lawyers and three others, preferred against them by the police.
The police prosecuting counsel, Morufu A. Animashaun, told the court that the defendants conspired amongst themselves and made false statements to the police. Read more
Lagos police arrest suspected cultists, others (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command said it arrested some suspected cultists setting up an occultic shrine known as “Indian Occultic Temple” in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The state Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, disclosed this at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday while parading a total of 34 suspects who were arrested for various offences in different parts of the state.
Adegoke said, “On January 13, 2024, around 3pm, based on credible intelligence that some boys were seen making occultic practices around Agufoye area of Ikorodu, operatives of the command swiftly arrested one Ifeanyi Nwodo, 39, and Daniel Johnson, 32.” Read more
Police nab suspects for snatching AK 47 rifle from cops (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested suspected cultists allegedly responsible for a series of killings in the state.
The police also said they arrested some suspects who snatched an AK 47 rifle from a police officer.
The state Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, while parading over a score of suspected criminals at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday, disclosed that the command also recovered several ammunition from the culprits. Read more
BRT driver accused of raping, killing fashion designer to file no-case submission (Leadership)
Mr. Abayomi Omotubora, counsel to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, Andrew Ominikoron, charged with the rape and murder of a 22-year-old fashion designer, has requested more time to file his no-case submission.
Ominikoron is facing a five-count charge bordering on rape, conspiracy, felony, sexual assault, and murder preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the counsel told a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square that he had shown his intention to file a no-case submission at the last proceeding. Omotubora, however, informed the court that the application for a no-case submission was at the filing stage. Read more
