Police in Lagos have detained a hotel manager in the Dopemu area following the death of a woman who allegedly visited the facility with an unidentified man.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.
According to Hundeyin, the Dopemu Police Division received a report from the hotel manager at about 10:10 p.m. on Friday concerning the incident. Read more
3 dead, 3 injured as oil tanker crashes into vehicles in Lagos (Vanguard)
Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon when at least three people lost their lives, and three others sustained various injuries in a horrific multi-vehicle crash at Second Rainbow, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to an eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, the incident occurred at about 4 pm on Sunday. The crash, which happened at Second Rainbow, inward Mile 2, involved an oil tanker, two commercial buses, a Honda car with registration number KTU223GH, and two commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada.
Meanwhile, a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer from the Isolo Unit Command, who confirmed the accident under anonymity, said only two persons died in the crash. Read more
Counter-terrorism: FG to acquire 24 M-346 jets, 10 Trekker helicopters (Nation)
The federal government has sent a team of experts led by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, to Italy to finalise the process for the procurement of 24 M-346 Fighter Ground Attack (FGA) jets and 10 AW-109 Trekker helicopters.
The team, which also comprises officials from Ministries of Defence and Finance, participated in a Programme Management Review Meeting with Messrs Leonardo S.p.A, to finalise the procurement of the platforms.
The M-346 jet, also known as the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master, is an advanced trainer and light attack aircraft, with advantages of precision strike, high speed and Maneuverability, close air support, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Read more

One person has reportedly been killed and another one injured as bandits invaded the Oreke-Okegbo community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday when the bandits reportedly in military uniforms invaded the community at about 7:00 p.m.
According to a credible source, “they shot one person at Awere River, and all efforts made by Kabiesi Oloreke to contact the army at Oro Ago proved abortive.” Read more

Police arrest 2 for alleged abduction, murder of trader in Nasarawa (Sun)
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of a petty trader, Felicia Namkywa. The suspects, both residents of Shember village in Agwatashi, Obi Local Government Area, were apprehended following investigation by police detectives attached to the Obi Division.
The police in a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO DSP Ramhan Nansel and sent to journalists on Sunday state that the arrest came after a complaint was lodged at the Obi Divisional Police Headquarters, reporting the trader’s disappearance. Days of efforts to trace her whereabouts had proven unsuccessful.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar Ibrahim, one of the suspects, had owed Namkywa the sum of ₦40,000. He reportedly lured her through a phone call, asking her to come and purchase grains at a Fulani settlement (Ruga) in the area. Unbeknownst to her, the suspects had a sinister plan to rob her of her business capital and take her life. Read more

The Police Command in Lagos State says a 45-year old man, simply identified as Kazeem, has allegedly jumped into a river and died after taken hard drug suspected to be Colorado.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.
The spokesperson said that the Alagbado Police Division, on Friday at about 11.00 a.m. got information about the incident. Read more

Production company Radio Silence is returning with the fan-favorite film centered around a children’s game turned deadly, along with Searchlight Pictures, who will distribute the horror movie. Drone attack kills 4 Israeli soldiers and injures more than 60 (BBC)
Four soldiers have been killed and more than 60 other people injured in a drone strike targeting an army base in northern Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has said.
The IDF added seven soldiers had been severely injured in the attack on a base “adjacent to Binyamina” – a town around 20 miles (33km) to the south of Haifa.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said targeted a training camp of the Israeli Defence Forces’ (IDF) Golani Brigade in the area, which is based between Tel Aviv and Haifa. Read more

Kenyan runner Ruth Chepngetich shattered the women’s marathon world record with plenty of time to spare.

The 30-year-old is the first woman to run the 26.2 mile-distance in under 2 hours and 10 minutes.
