My reconciliation with 2Baba not fake –Blackface (Punch)

Since the recent public reconciliation between Augustine Ahmedu, popularly known as Blackface, and his former friend and collaborator, Innocent Idibia, aka 2baba, some fans have opined that the reconciliation was too spontaneous to be genuine. The duo, together with Faze, were members of the defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, before they went their separate ways. Their feud began when Blackface accused 2baba of allegedly using the mega hit song, ‘African Queen’, without giving him due credit.  Over the years, the former friends practically became enemies as Blackface never missed any opportunity to lambast Idibia. However, at a tribute session organized in memory of late singer, Sound Sultan, the three singers were urged to bury the hatchet and resume their friendship.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Blackface maintained that he wasn’t boxed to a corner and the reconciliation was genuine. He said, “I did not feel boxed into a corner by any means. It was a spontaneous reaction and we all know that holding grudges does not help anyone because life is too short. I am at peace with myself and I want him (2baba) to be at peace with himself too.”

Commenting on the possibility of a future collaboration between him and 2baba, the ‘Hard Life’ singer said, “Only time will reveal what will happen in the future.” Read more

Social experiment in Germany brings young and old together (DW)

Migration and demographic change are transforming societies worldwide. A documentary film about a German project has a vision for the future.

It’s a dreary scene: a few people standing on an empty field in the rain. Nothing about this place seems promising. But the people don’t seem to care. Some are curious, some euphoric, but all are confident. “Here’s my bed,” says one woman as she points to a spot on the ground, and then jumps for joy.

The plan is to build a village on this field in the Wendland region of the German state of Lower Saxony — a village that is ecological, intercultural and based on solidarity. With the help of its own cooperative, rents will be kept affordable. 300 people are to live here, consisting of 100 older people, 100 younger people — preferably with families — and 100 refugees. The idea is for them to be there and to look out for each other. Read more

Kemba Walker joining Knicks with ‘dicey’ knee injury (NYPost)

The stem-cell injections new Knicks point guard Kemba Walker took in his left knee before last season are a strong indicator he is suffering from a type of arthritis that could greatly impact the 2021-22 season, according to a leading sports orthopedic surgeon.

The ballyhooed Walker acquisition was not made official Friday, on the first day of formal signings. Walker had to clear waivers after the Thunder bought out the final two years and $76 million left on his maximum contract Wednesday.

Walker also could be subject to physicals before the official signing — examinations that Dr. Wellington Hsu, professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University, recommends.

Walker, 31, played 43 of 72 games with the Celtics this season. He sat out the final two games of Boston’s first-round loss to the Nets because of left-knee trouble. The injections apparently didn’t solve his issue. In his first move as Celtics president, Brad Stevens traded Walker to the Thunder in June. Read more

USA women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe has hit back at criticism she and the team received from Donald Trump, questioning why the former president was ‘rooting for people to do bad’.

The comments were made following USA’s 1-0 defeat to Canada which saw the team miss out on a place in this summer’s final. The Stars and Stripes did, though, go on to beat Australia to secure bronze at the Games. Read more
