Police officers threaten strike in Anambra over unpaid allowances (Punch)

Some officers in the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police in Anambra State have threatened to go on strike over the non-payment of their 2017 promotion allowances.

They called on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to intervene in their matter.

The spokesperson for the officers, who pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation, told journalists in Awka on Sunday that the officers involved were promoted in May 2017 from the rank of Inspector to ASP without the attendant allowances.

Describing the situation as unfortunate, he said each officer was entitled to  N400, 000 of accumulated allowances.
