Prizes galore as ‘33’ Export presents City of Friends and writing competition -Terh Agbedeh

This year’s edition of “33” Export ‘City of Friends’ is to celebrate World Friendship Day 2018. Unveiled at a media briefing at the Nigerian Breweries Headquarters, Iganmu, Lagos on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, this year also, the brand will hold a writing competition tagged Pen Down For Friendship which will reward winners with training grants to study at a media and communications school in Nigeria. The writing competition, open to only Nigerian journalists and bloggers based in Nigeria has started accepting entries, which must be published works on any media platform both online and print. Also, entries are required to be in English with a minimum of 500 words and maximum of 1,000 words. Entries close on July 27.

Three acclaimed writers will judge the competition – Toni Kan, an author, public relations senior executive; Olabisi Deji-Folutile, an experienced journalist and current editor, Saturday Punch, and Pelu Awofeso, Nigeria’s foremost travel writer.

The Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries, Franco Maria Maggi, said at the briefing that the “33” Export brand, which celebrated World Friendship Day for the first time in Nigeria in 2016 and in 2017, is dedicated to building friendship moments.

“Our plan is to surpass our own best efforts in 2018! Come July 30th, 2018, we will join the World again to celebrate friendship in a grand style. I say grand because this time we are taking the celebration to the grassroots,” Maggi said.

There will also be the City of Friends party in Lagos and Calabar at which friends will be entertained with different kinds of games, prizes and some of the best of Nigerian artistes including 9ice, Harrysong, Gordons, DJ N and a host of others performing.

“City of Friends” hits Calabar on the July 28 – 29 before moving to Lagos from August 3 – 4.
