Quramo Writers’ Prize 2022 to open call for submissions as February 1 strikes of midnight

Aspiring African writers worldwide can now start their journey to getting published as February begins at midnight when the prize’s portal for submissions is opened to accept entries.

The social media has been abuzz in the last couple of days as the organisers count down to the first day of February.

“We are pleased to inform all African writers worldwide that the #QWP2022 Submissions Portal opens by midnight tomorrow, 1 February 2022.

ARE YOU READY?” Said the post Monday, January 31, 2022.

The Quramo Writers’ Prize (QWP) is for original fiction prose manuscripts with a minimum word count of 30,000 in English, submitted by unpublished African writers.

Created in 2017 as an avenue for fresh writers to showcase their manuscripts to the global literary community, the prize celebrates unpublished writers who are working every day to hone their craft and record the continent’s original stories.

It aims to, the organisers say, encourage and stimulate a new community of talented writers, providing an opportunity for otherwise unexposed talent to achieve publishing recognition and encouragement.

Currently, in its sixth year, the prize which was first won by Samuel Monye for Give Us Each Day, has gone on to produce amazing writers with equally brilliant debut novels across the continent.

All submissions are to be done online through the Quramo website, where the Full Entry Terms and Conditions are provided.

Traditionally, the winner of the Quramo Writers’ Prize receive a remuneration of N1 million and a development publishing deal for their manuscript.
