Ras Kimono wife, Efemena dies 3 months after husband’s death

Wife of Late Reggae icon Ras Kimono, Efemena, has been reported dead three months after husband’s death.

According to a report on Vanguard newspaper website, the Project Manager of Premiere Music, Michael Odiong, said the sad incident occurred on Sunday, September 23.

Meanwhile, Premium Times quoted Chibueze Okereke of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), as saying that the organization is shocked to receive the news of Efe’s death.

“I was told that she attended a function yesterday and displayed no signs of ill health. She got home and after a while complained she was feeling funny. Sadly, she passed on before she could be rushed to the hospital. Efe and Ras Kimono were soul mates-it was impossible to see Kimono without seeing Efe by his side. She managed Kimono’s band and was an artiste turned artiste manager,” Okereke said.

Ras Kimono, whose real name was Ukeleke Onwubuya, passed on in a hospital in Lagos on June 10 weeks after he clocked 60 in May. He was buried in his hometown, Onicha-Olona, in Aniocha North, Delta State on August 26.

Ras kimono dominated the Nigerian music industry in the late 80’s after his debut album titled Under Pressure brought him to limelight.
