Superstar singer Davido has revealed that he has another son, Dawson who stays with his mother in London.

There have been unconfirmed rumors that Davido has a child with London-based makeup artist, Larissa Lorenco.

He seemed to have confirmed it by sharing that he has another son called Dawson. He revealed this on an recent episode of ABtalks podcast while talking about his kids. Read more

CBN allows banks to trade freely at any rate (Sun)

Reports reaching Daily Sun indicate that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given commercial banks and dealers in the forex market the green light to sell FX freely at a market-determined rate.

This is coming after sources stated that the rate cap of the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window has been removed.

This is in line with the intentions of the new administration to move to a unified exchange rate.

As of the last count, the rate on the I&E window was about N463.38/$1 before the June 12 holiday. Read more

The Lagos State University, Ojo, has said it will give a sum of N500,000.00 to its best-graduating student, Imoitesemeh Yusuf, of the Department of Law.

Yusuf graduated with a CGPA of 5.00 (First Class Honours).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, made this known on Wednesday during the convocation press conference.

Father sentenced to life imprisonment thrice for defiling 3 daughters (Independent)

Justice Abiola So­ladoye of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old businessman, Emeka Orisakwe, to three life sentences for defiling his three underaged children.

The minors were aged eight and six.

The trial judge convict­ed father, saying that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubts the three-count charge bor­dering on sexual assault by penetration against the de­fendant. Read more

Kwara Boat Mishap: NIWA reveals cause of accident, to sanction erring operators (Leadership)

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has launched investigation into the death of over 103 passengers, who died in a boat mishap, along the Jebba Lake channel in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The Authority, in a press statement, a copy of which was made available to LEADERSHIP by the general manager, Corporate Affairs, Jubril Darda’u, on Wednesday, said those responsible for the accident will be punished.

According to the Authority, the operators of the boat broke the inland waterways guidelines by navigating in the middle of the night even as he said the boat was also overloaded. Read more

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has formally resigned as a member of the House. 

Gbajabiamila was recently appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a letter addressed to Speaker Tajudeen Abbas at Wednesday’s plenary, Gbajabiamila said that he was resigning to officially resume duty in his new office. Read more

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has demolished the historic roundabout at the Kano State Government House.

The roundabout which was renovated by the past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, was brought down early hours of Wednesday.

In just his first week in office, the governor Yusuf-led administration commenced demolition of some structures in the state built under Ganduje’s tenure which the current government termed illegal structures. Read more

Sarah Polley in talks to direct Disney’s live-action ‘‘Bambi” (IndieWire)

It seems like Sarah Polley is ready to focus on Disney animals talking.

The “Women Talking” writer-director is currently in early talks to helm the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “Bambi,” IndieWire has confirmed. Polley won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for her 2022 feminist film Women Talking. The news was first reported by Deadline.

Disney first announced a live-action “Bambi” adaptation in 2020, with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer set to write the script.  Depth of Field production company was attached to produce. As of now it is unclear if all parties are still behind the project, which is still in the early stages of development. Read more

Amber Heard pays Johnny Depp $1m settlement 1 year after trial, Depp to donate it to 5 charities (People)

Amber Heard’s $1 million settlement money has been issued to Johnny Depp, closing out their Virginia defamation case a year later.

A source close to Depp says the actor, 60, will divide up the payment to five charities of his choosing, with $200,000 going to each. The organizations are: Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and Amazonia Fund Alliance.

Ministers gather in Uganda to look for solutions to East Africa’s refugee crisis (VOA) 

Calls for countries in the East and Horn of Africa to address the needs of the millions of displaced people in the region came Tuesday at the start of a four-day ministerial conference being held by the Inter-governmental authority (IGAD) in the Ugandan capital.

Hilary Onek, Uganda’s Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, called on ministers to examine and address the wide range of factors that are forcing people from their homes. These factors, he said, include not only material issues but political ones.

“Some governments don’t tolerate opposition. And they clamp down on them and these people run to exile. Tribal intolerance. Like in Congo here there’s Lendu against the Hema group killing each other, and some are forced to flee their home. Those are the challenges of intolerance I’m talking about. And most of them are driven by ignorance,” Onek said. Read more 

New “Alien” movie confirms 2024 release date (DigitalSpy)

The next Alien movie has been scheduled by Disney for 2024.

Justice are expected to release a new album and hit the road next year.

The news was teased by Pedro Winter — the boss for Ed Banger Records — in a new interview.

Speaking with French news outlet, France Inter, the music mogul confirmed that the electronic duo have been busy working on a new album, which is set for release in 2024. 6 killed, 10 injured in Russian missile strikes on Odesa, Donetsk (UPI)

Russian missile strikes on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa and two towns in Donetsk early Wednesday killed six civilians and injured 10 others, the Interior Ministry said.

Three people were killed and seven injured after four Kalibr cruise missiles hit Odesa residential and commercial districts, damaging a residential complex, business center, fast food restaurants and an educational institution with the ministry warning the death toll could rise.

A 10,000 square-foot block of the city had been destroyed, more than 4,000 square feet of which was set ablaze, the ministry said. Read more

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The England midfielder has agreed a six-year contract at the Bernabéu.

Dortmund confirmed in a statement last week that Madrid had agreed to pay an initial €103m (£88.5m) for the 19-year-old. Real confirmed on Wednesday morning that the deal was complete.

“Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons,” said a statement from the 14-times European champions. “Tomorrow, Thursday, 15 June, at 12pm at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place. John Hollins: Former Chelsea player and boss dies aged 76 (BBC)

Former Chelsea player and manager John Hollins has died aged 76, the club has announced.

Hollins made almost 600 appearances as a player for the club, scoring 64 times during his two spells at Stamford Bridge between 1963 and 1984.

He was appointed as manager in 1985, a position he held for three years. Read more

Cunningham happy Adrien Broner got rounds in, says hand injury prevented KO (BoxingScene)

Adrien Broner (35-4-1) picked up his first win in over 2 years when he dominated Bill Hutchinson (20-3-4) over 10 rounds.  The final scores were 100-90 and 99-91 twice. 

The fight took place at Casino Miami Jai Alai in Miami, Florida was his first under the promotional banner of Hall of Fame promoter Don King. 

Broner was a heavy favorite going into the fight but his trainer Kevin Cunningham was very happy that he was able to get 10 rounds in and shake off the ring rust. Read more
