Residents arrest suspected armed robber with toy gun in Lagos (Nation)
A suspected armed robber who attempted to rob a business woman in front of her house at Ojota, Lagos, was arrested by residents of the street after the woman raised alarm. Witnesses told our reporters that the incident happened on Friday night at Olabisi Street, Ojota, at about 8. 30 p.m. while the victim was about entering her house. The suspect brought out his toy gun and pointed to the woman as she opened the door of her car and carried her baby. Read more

The Sokoto State Police Command has denied media reports that parts of Tangaza local government area of the state was under occupation of Jihadists or any armed militia group. Reacting to the reports, yesterday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, told newsmen that neither Tangaza nor any part of the state was under threat as claimed. She said the rumour prompted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Murtala Usman Mani, and his deputy in charge of operations to pay an on-the-spot assessment visit on November 30. Read more

EFCC seizes N1.26b from bank, transfers cash to CBN (Nation)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized about N1, 260, 000, 000 from Heritage Bank and Secure Electronic Technologies Limited. Other forms of cash finally forfeited to the government are $327, 132.35, £167.85 and €327.90. According to the anti-graft commission, the seizure of the cash followed a court order granting final forfeiture of the sum. A document obtained by The Nation said: “Sequel to the investigation of the unlawful activities of Heritage Bank Plc, the sum of N1,260.000,000.00, $327,132.35, £167.85 and €157.90 proceeds of the Bank’s unlawful activities were forfeited to Federal Government Nigeria in suit NO: FHC/L/CS/1349/2018 (copy attached and marked A-A6). Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr Frederick Fasehun, is dead. He was aged 83. Senior Special Adviser on Media, to Fasehun, Mr Adeoye Jolaosho, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos yesterday. Protesters have scaled the Arc de Triomphe in central Paris, as clashes with riot police continued during a third weekend of “yellow vest” rallies. Police fired tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon on the Champs-Elysées, while masked protesters hurled projectiles and set buildings on fire. Man drowns during friend’s birthday party in Aba (Nation)
A 20-year-old man, simply identified as Chidiebere David, drowned on Thursday night in the swimming pool of a new but popular hotel on Margret Avenue, GRA, Aba in Abia. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Abia, Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident on Friday. “The man is about 20 years old. His name is Chidiebere David. He accompanied his friends to a birthday party in the hotel and got drowned there. That was exactly what happened,’’ he said. Bayelsa Police parade teenage cultists, armed robbers (Nation)
A total of 22 suspected criminals, mostly teenagers, were on Friday paraded by the Bayelsa State Police Command at the state police headquarters, Yenagoa. Among the suspects paraded were those involved in the killing of a 17-year-old student of the Niger Delta University, Seifeya Fred and a police corporal, Sammy Saturday, in November. The state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mutan, said the suspects were apprehended with the assistance of the state vigilante service and other stakeholders. Read more
Son hacks father to death in Enugu community (Nation)
The Enugu State Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged killing of a man identified as Osita Nwachukwu by his son, Chibuike Nwachukwu. The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, a Superintendent of Police, made this known in a statement on Friday in Enugu. Amaraizu said that the incident occurred at about 5.30 a.m. on Friday at Enugu-Agu village in Amuri community in Nkanu West Local Government Area. Read more
