Rising traffic robberies worsen Lagosians nightmare (Guardian)

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Ekene Okoro, a former media aide to former governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday night when at about 9:35p.m. he came face-to-face with some daredevil Lagos traffic robbers.

Okoro had just dropped off his colleague, Augustine Akhilomen at Iyana Itire during Wednesday night’s downpour when two men in their 20s approached his car. The construction by Hitech on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway main lane inward Mile 2 had restricted all vehicles approaching Cele Express bus stop to negotiate to the service lane. Read more

No fewer than 35 persons escaped death in multiple crashes involving a fuel tanker and five other vehicles at the Warewa end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Thursday.

The affected vehicles are a black Honda Pilot with number plate KSF 774 BE; a green Toyota with number plate LSD 513 EZ; a yellow Mazda commercial bus with number plate EKY 25 FQ; a black Nissan Rogue with number plate EKY 254 FQ; a black KIA car with number plate EPE 60 CZ; and a wine DAF tanker with number plate KEF 211 ZD. Patients’ lives at risk as LUTH doctors, management trade words over indefinite strike (Guardian)

The crisis between the management of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) has gained momentum as both parties trade words over issues surrounding the June 7 indefinite strike action.

Paige Patterson, seminary sued over alleged mishandling of sex abuse claim (XtianPost)

Former Southern Baptist Convention President Paige Patterson and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary have been sued over allegedly mishandling the response to a former student who was raped multiple times.

The lawsuit was filed in May in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas by a former student identified as “Jane Roe” and was unsealed earlier this month. Read more
