A final-year student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, simply identified as Saviour, has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers.
The deceased was of Electrical Electronics Department in the institution.
It was gathered that the incident happened at about 8pm, on Saturday, when the victim tried dragging his cellphone with the robbers close to where he formerly lived at Ikot uboh in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
A source said the armed robbers opened fire on Saviour as he tried to raise an alarm.
The source said the incident has induced fear among residents of the area.
Speaking on the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, said the command was working to ensure that the culprits were apprehended.
“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable,” she said. (DailyTrust)
