Roger Federer’s brainchild the Laver Cup joins forces with the ATP but there will be no rankings points (Metro)

The Laver Cup will officially integrate with the ATP Tour, but there will be no rankings points on offer to those who compete at the exhibition event.

A brainchild of Roger Federer and his agent Tony Godsick, the weekend-long tournament, which sees Team Europe pitted against Team World, has attracted major crowds in its first two outings in Prague and Chicago and has convinced outgoing ATP chief Chris Kermode to bring it on board.

‘The Laver Cup has struck a chord with fans worldwide in a very short time,’ Kermode said.

‘It’s been great to see the passionate participation of the players and the response from the fans at the sold-out events in Prague and Chicago. Read more
