Roy Jones Jr. fears Mike Tyson could kill him in upcoming boxing match

Roy Jones Jr. believes there is a genuine chance he could be killed when he steps into the ring with Mike Tyson next month, but says he will ‘die a happy man’ if it happens.

The 51-year-old, a former four-weight world champion, takes on Iron Mike in their hotly anticipated comeback exhibition match in California on November 28.

Although both veteran boxers are taking the fight extremely seriously, the intention is to raise money for charity with the referee having been ordered to step in if the match goes ‘beyond the boundaries of a competitive boxing exhibition’.

Despite the precautions in place, Jones knows Tyson still boasts serious power – as he has displayed in countless training videos – and fears he could lose his life in the ring, but it’s a risk he’s prepared to take. ‘You get hit by someone like Mike Tyson anything can happen to you,’ Jones is quoted by The Sun.

‘Mike Tyson is not just an ordinary puncher. He’s one of those guys that can do just that to you.

‘So, you should know what you’re going into and you should be ready for that because this is Mike. For me, I don’t really give a damn, I fight for a living.

Bob Arum predicts when Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua will be finalised ‘I ain’t trippin’ at all because I know death is a possibility. Yeah, that can happen to anybody. (Metro)
