Sales rep docked over alleged theft of Iphones valued N7.3m

An 18-year old sales representative, Aliya Idowu, was on Friday, docked before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing cell phones valued, N7.3million, belonging to her employer.

Idowu, whose resides at 14, Ogundele Street, Abule Egba, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp Samuel Mishozunnu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in May at No. 16, Francis Oremeji Street, Computer Village, Ikeja.

Mishozunnu said that Idowu and others now at large, stole 12 iPhones valued, N7. 3million, belonging to the complainant, Mr Sukunmi Esho.

He said that the defendant could not give account of the phones after an audit exercise.

Mishozunnu said that offences contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 (7) stipulates seven years jail term for stealing from one’s employer while Section 411 prescribes two years for conspiracy.

The Magistrate, Mrs F. D Hudges, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hughes adjourned the case until July 31 for mention.(NAN)
