Sales representative docked for allegedly stealing employer’s goods

An 18-year-old sales representative, Rufus Deborah, was on Wednesday docked in an Ota Magistrates ‘Court for allegedly stealing body cream and hair extensions worth N702,000 belonging to her employer.

The police charged Deborah, whose address, was not provided with theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp E O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Sept..6 and Oct. 3, at 730 a.m. at Iju, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant sold some body creams, four cartons of Lush wow extensions and other valuable items worth N702,000 and refused to remit the money to her employer.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390(9)(6) of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun,2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until Nov.9 for further hearing.(NAN)
