Three sales representative on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing goods worth N182,600 from their employer.
The defendants are Juliet Joel, 27; Ladi Owoicho, 29; and Ruth Samuel, 24.
Owoicho and Samuel respectively live at Ketu and Mushin, both in Lagos State.
They defendants are charged with conspiracy and stealing but they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that they committed the offences from September 2022 to March 22, 2023 at Hindus Supermarket located at No. 2, Ogundele St., Ilupeju, Lagos State.
Akeem said that Joel was caught with a carton containing beverages, biscuits, vegetable oil, tooth paste and bar soaps.
“Other items are different types of perfume, custard and liquid soap,” he said.
Akeem said that Joel confessed to the crimes, adding that the others were accomplices.
The prosecutor said that, on interrogation, it was discovered that they had been stealing from their employer since September 2022.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in tbe sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until June 8 for mention. (NAN)
