Salesman docked for allegedly stealing cell phone

The Police on Friday brought a 23-year old salesman, Success Nwali, before a Mapo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a customer’s cell phone valued N187,000.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nwali, of unknown address, was charged on one count of stealing.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution counsel, Insp Salewa Hammed, told the court that Nwali on Feb. 9, at Abimbola Street, Felele, Ibadan, allegedly stole a Samsung Galaxy A14 brought for charging in his shop.

Hammed said, the complainant, Oluwaseun Akomolafe, took his cellphone for charging, and that when he went back to collect his cellphone, it was discovered that it had been swapped with a power bank.

He said the offence contravened section 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The magistrate, Mrs O. O. Latunji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Latunji said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter until March 5, for hearing. (NAN)
