The action followed a media report that exposed the fraudulent acquisition of degree certificates by some desperate degree-seeking individuals.
Recall that the Daily Nigerian Newspaper, in its publication dated December 30, 2023, exposed how its undercover reporter, who had already graduated from a Nigerian university and served the nation’s one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), bagged a Cotonou varsity degree in just six weeks and participated in the NYSC scheme. 11 killed as truck, bus collide in Kwara (DailyTrust)
At least 11 people were killed while seven others were injured in a fatal auto crash that occurred at Aiyere, Bode Saadu-Ilorin route in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday.
The crash, sources said, occurred around 4:50 am due to wrong overtaking and speeding.
It was gathered that the Toyota Hiace bus coming from Gombe en route to Lagos wrongfully overtook another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming DAF truck.

Gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa Andaha.

South Korea’s opposition leader Lee Jae-myung has been stabbed in the neck during a visit to the city of Busan.
Mr Lee, who narrowly lost the 2022 presidential election, sustained a 1 cm laceration on the left side of his neck, reports said.
He was airlifted to hospital. Doctors say the wound is not life-threatening.
The 66-year-old man who attacked him said he had intended to kill Mr Lee, Yonhap news agency reported. The motive for the attack is unclear. Read more

Mexican actor Ana Ofelia Murguía, who gave voice to the character of “Mama Coco” in the popular Pixar film Coco, has died, Mexican officials said. She was 90.
