A presidential aspirant and former National Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has declared that it will be impossible for the All Progressives Congress senators to impeach the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
He stated this on Friday while meeting with the leadership of the PDP in Ondo State at the party secretariat in Akure.
Makarfi said those clamouring for Saraki’s removal lacked the understanding of the constitution regarding the affairs of the National Assembly, insisting that only two-thirds majority of the Senate could impeach the Senate President.
According to him, the defection of the Senate President to the PDP does not prevent him from holding his office, as the constitution does not indicate that the Senate President must come from the ruling party. Read more
