Saraki insists Buhari must investigate DSS NASS siege

Bukola Saraki, Nigerian Senate President, Tuesday called on president Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the last Tuesday’s siege on the National Assembly by masked operatives of the Department for State Services.

Saraki, via his official Twitter handle, insisted that there were some ‘very serious questions’ that needed to be answered via a ‘thorough and neutral investigation’.

“I call on Mr. President to immediately institute an independent judicial panel of inquiry to look into that assault on our democracy,” he tweeted on.

Recall that, APC while reacting to the blockade in a press statement signed by its acting national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, claimed that its “investigation” revealed that Senate President was behind the invasion.

The ruling party said Saraki mobilised thugs to the National Assembly to stop his purported impeachment and that the DSS only moved in to prevent any outbreak of violence.

“Following Tuesday’s incident at the National Assembly, our investigations have now uncovered the sinister plot hatched by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki to foment violence in the legislative chamber all in a bid to stop his impeachment,” Nabena said in a statement.

“Why did the Senate President mobilise thugs to the National Assembly who almost lynched Hon. E.J. Agbonayinma, the only APC federal lawmaker present but for the timely intervention of security operatives.”
