Reports of Jussien Smollet’s arrest is no longer news.
What remains is for the 36 year old actor who gained game from his turn on Fox tv series Empire to mount what his defence team has described as “an aggressive defence.”
The actor had alleged a hate crime against his person in early January during which he said he was battered while his attackers shouted racial slurs.
The alleged attack on the openly gay actor drew criticism and outpouring of support across the spectrum with many calling on US president Donald Trump to condemn the attack.
The Chicago Police Department has released the charge sheet against Mr. Smollet and it details wide-ranging collusion with two of his associates, Abel and Ola osundairo, to plan the attack.
Smollet faces a possible jail term of between 1-3 years.
