Segun Adefila and Kunle Afolayan to stage Wole Soyinka’s ‘The Swamp Dwellers’

Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan is set to produce a stage adaptation of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s The Swamp Dwellers. The production, directed by the talented Segun Adefila of the Crown Troupe of Africa, will be showcased at the KAP Hub in Ikeja on August 17th and 18th, 2024.

The Swamp Dwellers, a powerful exploration of societal transformation and family conflicts, promises to be an unmissable event for theatre enthusiasts and literary aficionados alike.

The production boasts an impressive creative team, including choreography by Kate Odiong and a stellar cast. Performances are scheduled for 3pm and 6pm on both days, offering flexibility for attendees.

Ticket prices range from ₦5,000 for regular seats to ₦20,000 for the VIP experience. The intimate setting of the KAP Hub, located at 41 Ogundana Street, Off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, is expected to provide an immersive experience for the audience.

Afolayan, known for his passion for promoting Nigerian culture through film and theatre, expressed his excitement about the project.

According to Adefila, “Get ready for an amazing weekend of live theatre experience,” hinting no doubt at the transformative power of Wole Soyinka’s work.

“The swallows find its nest again when the cold is over. Even the bats desert dark holes in the trees and flap wet leaves with wings of leather,” Adefila added.
