The Senate has suspended Senator Abdul Ningi for three months over the allegation he brought that the National Assembly passed two versions of the 2024 budget.

He was suspended on Tuesday on the floor of the Senate.

The Senate was turbo-charged on Tuesday following the suspension of the senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Abdul Ningi. A member of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, Jimoh Ibrahim, moved a motion for Ningi’s suspension for 12 months over misinformation and breach of peace in the National Assembly and the country by extension. Shanties Demolition: No protest on Lekki-Epe Expressway, say Lagos police (Punch)

The Lagos Police Command has debunked the report that there is an ongoing protest on the Lekki-Epe Expressway as a result of the demolition of shanties in the Jakande area of Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.

The PUNCH reports that the Lagos State Government is set to remove shanties and all illegal structures erected around the Jakande estate and Mayegun axis.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Geographic Information Systems and Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, disclosed this on Sunday during an inspection of the area. Read more

A Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Chairman of Bullion Records, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has congratulated the Muslim Ummah across the country on the commencement of the month of Ramadan 1445.

Ajadi has also said that as part of ways to enhance piety and to imbibe the spirit of Ramadan, his company, the Bullion Records will be organizing a Ramadan Lecture titled “Submit Yourself For Whom God Has Shown Mercy To”.

Police IG meets Gov Sani, promises release of  287 abducted students (Channels)

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on Tuesday, arrived at the government house in Kaduna State for a meeting with the State Governor, Uba Sani, in connection with the recent abduction of 287 primary and secondary school students at Kuriga community in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

The IGP, on arrival, was received by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Sani Kila and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman.

Kolanut merchant macheted to death (Dailytrust)

Unknown persons have killed a 45-year-old Kolanut merchant, Kudirat Abolarinwa, in the Ayeyemi area of Ondo in Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.

The victim’s body was discovered in the bush on Friday night with deep machete wounds on her head.

Confirming the incident to newsmen on Monday in Akure, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, said the deceased who had severe machete cuts on her head, was left with only pants. Read more

A Boeing whistleblower, who had raised issues about the company’s production standards, has been found dead in South Carolina in the US.

John Barnett, 62, had worked for Boeing for 32 years before he retired in 2017 on health grounds. He was found dead in his truck in a hotel car park, the Charleston County coroner told BBC News on Monday.

According to the Charleston County coroner, Barnett had died from a ‘self-inflicted’ wound on March 9 and the police were probing the incident, BBC News reported. Read more

Minnesota Vikings, running back Aaron Jones agree to 1-year deal (UPI)

Free agent running back Aaron Jones agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Sources told NFL Network, ESPN and The Athletic about the agreement Tuesday. The Green Bay Packers announced Monday that they released Jones.

The seven-year veteran, who joined the NFC North franchise as a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, will now join a division rival.
