The Senate on Wednesday, July 31, called on organisers of the proposed #Endbadgovernance protests slated to commence on Thursday, August 1, to give President Bola Tinubu more time to allow his policies to yield desired results.
The Senate said that one year is too short for the President’s economic and social policies to take root and yield results.

LASG deploys RRS, task force to streets ahead of protest (Channels)
The Lagos State Government has deployed men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to the streets ahead of the nationwide hunger and hardship protests billed to commence on August 1.
The heavy presence of police officers of the RRS and Task Force were seen on streets around the state Wednesday, as they engaged in patrol exercises.
The operation took off from Alausa, Ikeja through the old Tollgate, Ojota, Ogudu, and Iyana Oworo to the 3rd Mainland Bridge axis. Read more

Onwenu reportedly died after performing at the birthday party of the Chief Executive Officer of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Stella Okoli.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Palestinians have gathered in different locations across the occupied West Bank to protest against the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas.
Haniyeh was killed in the Iranian capital, Tehran, early on Wednesday along with a bodyguard when the building in which he was staying was targeted. Hamas has accused Israel, which has yet to comment.

A Missouri man who has spent more than 30 years in prison was released Tuesday after a judge overturned his murder conviction.
Christopher Dunn has long maintained that he was not involved in the killing of 15-year-old Ricco Rogers, who was fatally shot on May 18, 1990, while he was sitting on a porch at a home.
In July, St. Louis City Judge Jason Sengheiser ruled in favor of vacating his conviction, stating that Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore “has made a clear and convincing showing of ‘actual innocence’ that undermines the basis for Dunn’s convictions because in light of new evidence, no juror, acting reasonably, would have voted to find Dunn guilty of these crimes beyond a reasonable doubt.” Read more
