Niger East Senator Sani Mohammed Musa, at the weekend, rolled out cash and food items to the people of his Constituency in other cushion the effect of the current hardship being faced by the people.
No fewer than 4,100 indigent members of his constituency were given the sun of N50, 000.00 each as grant as an empowerment to enable them cope with the present economic reality in the country.
The Senator in addition to the cash grant, a number of farmers were given grains and seedlings ahead of the forthcoming farming season in a bid to boost farming in his senatorial district in bud to address the current hardship from different dimension.
The beneficiaries which includes women and youths, were drawn from the nine Local Government areas of Niger East Senatorial District and they are Paiko, Tafa, Gurara, Suleja, Bosso, Shiroro, Chanchaga, Munya and Rafi.
Flagging off the cash and grains distribution in Suleja Local Government Area of the state, Senator Sani Musa said his division to embark on the empowerment was borne out of the current hardship being faced by the people, stressing that “there is no better time to reach out to the people than now because the hardship is real.
“The decision was also informed by the fact that the people freely entrusted me with their mandate to represent them at the national assembly so when they are in need, it is morally bind on me to reach out to the and that is exactly what I am doing today.
“As a representative of the people, I will continue to attract empowerment programmes to compliment the transformative agenda of our farmer friendly Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, who is doing his best to take Niger state to an enviable hight”, he added.
Senator Musa disclosed further that the empowerment programme was primarily aimed at cushion the effect of the present hardship Nigerians are going through, adding “we are doing this to assist our constituents who are facing the present economic challenges.
“We are actually aware of the adverse economic challenges being faced by our people and we are doing everything possible to address it. Inflation, high cost of living, unemployment are a few of these challenges being faced by Nigerians.” Musa lamented.
The Senator who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Finance, disclosed that himself in the legislative arm of the government and the economic team in the executive arm are doing everything humanly possible to right the many wrongs affecting the economy that has triggered the hardship in the country.
He said though the present hardship in the country was informed by the inability of past administrations to put in place, democratic foundations that would address the yearnings of Nigerians, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was leaving no stone unturned to bring a lasting solution to the challenges faced by Nigerians.
Speaker after speaker at the occasion commended the Senator for identifying with the people of his Constituency, describing him as a true representative of the people.
The Chairman of APC in Tafa Local Government Area of the state, Hon. Isiaku Suleman, while commending the the various intervention programme of the Senator, said, “we have never had it so good like we are having under the representation of Senator Sani Musa.
“Senator Musa is a born leader and a team player who carries everybody along. The constituents, the party leaders, the stakeholders and the downtown in the society are feeling the impact of his representation. All we wish him is God’s abundant blessings and protection in his political endeavours.”
Also speaking, APC chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, Hon. Idris Binani, said that Senator Musa has again done what he is known for, noting, “You have today shown love to indigent constituents of Niger East Senatorial District. We will continue to pray for your success in the Senate.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Niger state on Political Matters and Strategy, Hon. Mma Kolo, thanked the Senator for collaborating with Governor Muhammad Umar Bago, in providing leadership for the good people of the state.
Kolo urged the people to remain committed in their support to the leadership of the state and those at the national assembly adding that more dividend of democracy will continue to be provided for the good people of the state. (Sun)
